Cada any, l'Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) organitza la Setmana Internacional de l'Accés Obert (Open Access Week), una trobada per compartir coneixements i aprendre quins avantatges té el fet de publicar continguts lliures, immediats i sense restriccions. Aquest any la celebració tindrà lloc del 23 al 29 d’octubre sota el lema Community over Commercialization i la UOC hi participa amb l'organització d'actes o material divulgatiu sobre la publicació en obert.

This year's theme
The theme is "Open for Climate Justice". As the organizers explained, opening up knowledge can promote more equitable information sharing and serve as a means to address the effects of climate change. Here are some materials for further reading on the subject.
