Reading recommendations and shared stories for the day of books and roses
Subject: Arts and humanities | Multidisciplinary
A red-letter day for book-lovers is upon us! Celebrate World Book Day with these recommendations.
On Sant Jordi's Day, Catalonia's streets are filled with flowers, and books that inspire memories, emotions and new perspectives call to us from shop windows and stalls. This year, we invite you to celebrate the event with a new site full of literary recommendations and the Shared Stories campaign. Both projects are collaborations involving the UOC's Culture department.
Literary recommendations
The Reading corner is a new site where you'll find digital books to suit all tastes. Whether you're looking for a novel to take your mind off things or you want to learn about a new topic, this space will help you make your mind up.
It includes:
- A selection of novels and the latest books added to the Library's collection.
- Recorded readings and books with an audio player.
- International newspapers and magazines available online.
- The "What to read?" library guide, covering literary classics, free access reading, and resources for discovering websites, podcasts, book clubs and YouTube channels about the world of books.
The fourth Shared Stories campaign
This year sees the return of Shared Stories, an initiative to highlight the role of women in literature through open access recorded readings. The project, run by the UOC Library in collaboration with Camilo José Cela University, aims to raise the profile of women from the history of Catalan, Spanish, Basque and Galician literature through a collaborative, constantly growing archive of recorded readings.
It is a participatory initiative that is open to the entire UOC community, as well as to users and staff of libraries in Spain and internationally. It starts around Sant Jordi's Day, but you can participate until September.
