Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Library search engine work?
All the contents you need can be found in a single search box. Follow the steps below to get the most out of the search engine.
How can I make my searches quicker and more effective?
Here are some tips to improve your searches:
- Bear in mind the search engine’s filters and the advanced search tool, with which you can define search terms using the Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT.
- Use inverted commas before and after a term and the exact results will be provided. So, if you enter “history teaching” in the search box, you will obtain results such as Teaching History.
- Use the asterisk as a wildcard. For example, if you enter “subject: librar*”, you will recover all the documents that contain library, libraries or librarians as subjects.
What language can I do the search in?
In any language. However, bear in mind that most scientific and academic publications are written or indexed in English. Consequently, you may retrieve many more results if you perform the search in English.
You also have the Language filter to delimit your results.
