You can now browse eLibro in Catalan and find the digital books you're looking for

The UOC Library works with various publishing groups to increase the range of educational content available in Catalan

The eLibro collection of ebooks is one of the Library's most popular resources among the UOC community, with more than 2 million books downloaded every year. eLibro has now taken a further step forward to improve the search experience: users can now browse the whole platform in Catalan to find and read the contents.

How do you access eLibro in Catalan?

First, access the platform by typing its name ("eLibro") in the Library's search engine or in the Search by name or keyword field on the Search the digital collection by field page.

Once you've accessed the platform, select Catalan from the top menu of the home page.

Opció català a eLibro

There are currently 1,326 academic books in Catalan available on eLibro, and this figure is increasing all the time. To find them, go to the Filtered search option on the eLibro home page, enter the keywords of the topic you are looking for in the search box, and filter by language ("Catalan") in the sidebar.

Objective: more content in Catalan

The team at the Library is working to expand the range of content available in Catalan as part of the measures to enhance the use of Catalan in academia included in the UOC's 2025-2027 Language Plan, and as part of the Plan to strengthen the Catalan language in the university and research system of Catalonia (PEC). This includes both the information in the Library, and the courses' learning resources.

The Library team has carried out an exhaustive analysis of the current collection to identify possible areas for improvement. It has also contacted some 20 publishers to explore new opportunities for the translation and publication in Catalan of books and digital platforms, such as eLibro.

We'll continue to work with publishers to offer more content in Catalan, in order to expand our range and meet the needs of the UOC community
