UOC strengthens commitment to Dialnet: a decade of sharing knowledge

Dialnet contains information on more than 8,600 items of content by 695 authors from the UOC
The UOC's digital journals received 284,000 visits from the portal in 2022
The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), the University of La Rioja and the Dialnet Foundation have renewed their agreement to continue promoting the exchange of knowledge and open science. Thanks to this agreement, the UOC contributes to the Dialnet portal by publishing bibliographical information on its scientific production and open access texts, such as articles, books and theses. Likewise, the university community enjoys the advantages of Dialnet Plus, a version of Dialnet with advanced features.
The UOC Library has been part of this library cooperation project, which involves around 150 Spanish and international institutions, for more than a decade.
The UOC community performed nearly 300,000 searches and 67,500 downloads using Dialnet in 2022
Greater visibility for research
Dialnet has established itself as one of the major academic information portals in the human, legal and social sciences in Spanish and Portuguese. With more than 28 million searches and 196 million downloads in 2022, it fosters the dissemination of scientific literature.
The bibliographic portal currently contains 8,600 items from the UOC, including articles, books, book chapters, theses and journals. These include open access digital journals, which accounted for 284,000 visits and 109,0500 article downloads in 2022.
Dialnet Plus: the advanced version
The functions of Dialnet Plus include more precise searches, advanced filters, a search engine for authors, and the option to save, export and share documents in various formats.
You can access Dialnet Plus by typing the name of the resource in the Library search engine, and it will appear among the first listed results. You can also access it from the Search the digital collection by field page.
Dialnet Plus is connected to the UOC Library's collection, which means:
- When you search through the Library search engine, you will also retrieve results from Dialnet.
- While browsing Dialnet, you will be able to find out whether the full text of a bibliographic record is in the Library. When it is available, you will find the Consulta
The added services that Dialnet Plus provides
More accurate searches
- More search filters to refine your results (filter by subject, time period, publishers or languages, among others).
Tip: enable the Full Text filter at the side if you only want to see results with the full content to read it.
- More advanced search options integrated into the main search engine and into the search engines in the journals, theses and conferences section.
- A search engine for authors to consult information and scientific production. Within each record, Dialnet Plus includes links to the author in other catalogues (BNE, ResearcherID, GoogleScholar, Scopus), the "Co-authorships" section with the names of all the authors with whom the author searched for has collaborated, and an "Academic tree" listing all the theses they have supervised.
Working with the results
- Save documents as favourites. Simply check the box on the left, next to each record, and consult the selected references in the Selection section of your personal account. You will have to register on the platform to be able to do this.
- Export data from documents in various formats. After selecting the document, the system lets you send it by email, or export it in Refworks, RIS, plain text and BibTex formats.
- Save searches to retrieve them and receive alerts when new documents on the subject are uploaded. You can access your saved searches from the user menu by clicking on My searches.
- Create lists of references to share. You will have to access the My references option in your personal area.
