Are you looking for information? Ask LIA, the Library search engine's AI assistant
Subject: Multidisciplinary
Make sure you go over the answers and check them against the information in the original sources.
92% of the people surveyed said they'd use the assistant again.
The Library's search engine's generative artificial intelligence assistant is here to stay. After a pilot test period involving the entire UOC Community, the tool is now a feature of the search engine, under the name of LIA (a combination of Library and AI), as an information search tool.
Where can users access it?
When you enter the Library search engine, you'll see a banner with a star icon on the right. Simply click on it to type your question and get answers from the assistant.
Use the following form to rate and share your feedback about the assistant.
Where can users access it?
You can use this tool, based on ChatGPT technology, to ask questions in natural languages including Catalan, Spanish and English, and obtain answers generated from the abstracts of the texts in the search engine.
You can also access the full text of the sources if they are available in open access or if the Library subscribes to them.
The search assistant being tested is in training and improves the more it is used, but currently it still has limitations.
As can happen with any generative artificial intelligence tool. It is important to always check the summaries generated by the search engine against the original sources to make sure that it is complete and correct.
What's the story behind LIA?
The entire UOC Community was invited to take part in the pilot test of a generative AI search assistant at the start of the academic year. The response was very positive: the assistant was asked nearly 50,000 questions between September and December. A form was created to assess user experience, and was completed by 101 people. Some 92%of the respondents said that they would use the assistant again when searching for information. The Library team is working to improve the UOC Community's experience when searching for information. With this in mind, it is launching several projects and preparing content like the new website AI and innovation: a new horizon, where you can find updated information about generative AI.
