We start the new year looking back to review the most striking facts and figures of 2023 at the Library.
One of the most notable aspects was the increase in the use of the Library's digital content: the UOC community downloaded more than 7 million documents, such as books or articles.
Student satisfaction with the Library also grew: the results of the opinion survey for academic year 2022/2023 were better than ever.
Results of the survey answered by 10,722 students studying for a bachelor's or university master's degree:
Does the Library meet my needs? 70.6% (compared to 39.5% in academic year 2021/2022).
Do I find it easy to find what I need in the Library? 77.4% (compared to 46% in academic year 2021/2022).
The year 2023 was also marked by the growth of the Library's digital collection. At present, more than 90% of the Library's content is digital and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The format that has grown the most was ebooks: we added more than 16,000.
Over the last 12 months, the Library team has also worked on new websites and Library guides to help the UOC community learn more about current affairs and find answers to their questions. One of the most recent launches is the Library's new training site, BiblioSkills, with a selection of seminars and training content in different formats. Since its launch in October, it has received 11,500 visits.
New contents
The Library also launched a campaign alongside other libraries, Shared Narratives, to highlight the talent of women in literature for Women Writers Day. The result is 85 audiobooks, available online and free of charge, of works by female authors such as Emilia Pardo Bazán, Fernán Caballero and Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda.
The learning resources
Before the start of each academic year, teaching staff commission the creation of new UOC learning resources or select existing written or audiovisual materials available on the market with the Library's support. For the academic year 2022/2023, 2,932 learning resources were produced or updated and the purchase of licences and copyright management for 97,128 resources was handled.
One of the five most highly rated aspects, in terms of levels of satisfaction, in the survey for the academic year 2022/2023, was "Respect for gender diversity in learning resources", with 90.3%.
