This new tool lets you find out about the co-authoring habits and practices of Spanish researchers in the different fields of scientific knowledge.

Co-author Index has calculated the levels of co-authoring of articles published by Spanish authors in 19,000 Spanish and international journals after processing nearly a million documents.

The co-authoring indicators can be viewed by journal or discipline for a given year. Likewise, the tool also offers overall data for the period analysed and the evolution over time. For disciplines, values are shown for Spanish and international journals (journals processed in the Web of Science) so that the differences in co-authoring rates in one area or another can be compared for each year.

The definitive aims of the project are:

  • To show the co-authoring habits and practices of Spanish researchers in terms of their publications in Spanish and international journals.
  • To help Spanish researchers in scientific performance assessment processes.
  • To guide scientific policy managers, and Spanish agency managers and assessors, showing them the reference rates for co-authoring in the journals and disciplines that Spanish researchers publish in.
