I can't find an article or a book. What should I do?


  • Make sure that the details are correct. Check that you have typed the title or author in the search tool correctly.
  • If you don't find any results, click on Extend your search to other libraries (at the top of the search engine). This will extend the search to the collections of other Spanish and international libraries, including the University Union Catalogue of Catalonia.

  • You can also select UOC and other libraries from the drop-down list in the search tool.
  • Log in to the search engine with your Campus username and password (if you haven't already done so).

  • When you find the document, click on the title. A page will open with full information about the document.

  • Choose one of the options in the Get it from other libraries field, and fill in the fields in the form.

  • If you're looking for a book, the options you'll find to request it are:

A library has it available for you to borrow. You'll receive it within an estimated seven days. The loan period is 21 days and you can renew it up to six times if it hasn't been reserved by another user. The book isn't available at this time. We'll look for it in other libraries and keep you informed of the status of your request. Check the conditions.
A digital chapter  Digital chapter not available. Want us to find it for you?
You'll receive it in your UOC inbox within 24 hours, free of charge. It's very important that you indicate which chapter you want in the request form (the title of the chapter, author, pages, etc.). The digital chapter isn't available at this time. We'll look for it in other libraries, and keep you informed of the status of your request. Check the conditions
  • If you're looking for an article, conference proceedings, etc., the options you'll find to request it are:

  • Track all your requests and cancel your requests at My Account.
  • If none of the search engine results match what you need, click on Still no success? We'll find it for you (at the top of the search engine). Fill out the form and we'll search for the document in other libraries.

  • The databases you can consult from the Virtual Library are collections of electronic documents and texts that have been indexed. There are two kinds of database available:

    • Bibliographic databases: they provide basic information about the document (author, title, edition, date of publication, abstracts or reviews), but they do not offer access to the original text.
    • Full-text databases

    The Library subscribes to databases that allow users to consult journals, ebooks, conference proceedings, etc.

  • The first time you open the search engine, the interface will appear in Catalan. If you'd like to change it, click on the Menú option in the upper right-hand corner (or your name if you're already logged in) and then go to Mostrar idioma: Català (Show language: Catalan). Choose the language of your choice in the pop-up window.

    You can also set your preferred default language by going to El meu compte (My account) / Dades personals (Personal details) / Idioma per defecte de la interfície (Default interface language). You can choose between Catalan, Spanish and English. The search engine will immediately switch to whatever language you pick.

  • In any language. However, bear in mind that most scientific and academic publications are written or indexed in English. Consequently, you may retrieve many more results if you perform the search in English.

    You also have the Language filter to delimit your results.

  • Follow these steps to find information:

    • Enter the Library's search engine and write the keywords, the title of the content or the author's name and surname in the search box.

    The search engine retrieves content including books, articles, journals, videos, images, degree final projects, UOC learning resources and recommended reading by the teaching staff in the classrooms.

    • Use the filters in the sidebar (type of content, date, language, etc.).
    • Click on Available online to access the content.
    • Improve your results with our search tips.
