A 3D atlas of the human anatomy used as a learning resource

The UOC is to provide a virtual 3D atlas of human anatomy as a learning resource. Over 2017, students on certain psychology and health programmes will be able to revel in the Visible Body - Anatomy & Physiology app. It is the first of its kind for teaching and learning in this field.
It is an app that lets students learn key concepts of the anatomy and physiology of the human body in an attractive, interactive and medically precise format. The tool includes the following elements:
- 50 chapters/modules with the core content for anatomy and physiology courses
- Over 500 pre-set views of 3D models
- Over 80 animations and illustrations
- 3D bony landmarks of the axial and appendicular skeleton
- Pronunciations and definitions
- On-screen controls for zooming, panning, rotating, and dissecting 3D models of twelve body systems (Cells and Tissue, Integumentary, Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous, Endocrine, Circulatory, Lymphatic, Respiratory, Digestive, Urinary, and Reproductive)
- Over 65 multiple choice and dissection tests
Some of the courses on the Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and the master’s degrees in Learning Difficulties and Language Disorders, in Neuropsychology and in Nutrition and Health will start using this tool next semester.
