This guide is a starting point for people who want to train as mentors to guide refugees as they look to settle and find work. This initiative was launched by the UOC Office of the Vice President for Globalization and Cooperation together with the Directorate General for Migration, Refugees and Anti-Racism, part of the Government of Catalonia's Ministry of Equality and Feminism.
Context
In 2016 the UOC launched a programme to welcome refugees and asylum seekers, offering them scholarships to study at the University. The programme also provided each new student with a mentor from the university community.
Since 2021 the UOC's volunteering programme has been offering its university community opportunities to mentor refugees and asylum seekers within the framework of the Government of Catalonia's refugee programme. Want to take part? Get involved!
Students, faculty members and administrative staff who sign up to assist refugees and applicants for international protection will receive training in mentoring in employment and social guidance from the Government of Catalonia.
