Anthropology Commons is a repository from ProQuest's Alexander Street aimed at promoting digitization and open access initiatives. It currently contains 8,000 digitized pages from Ruth Fulton Benedict's archives, including the letter she wrote to Jesse Nusbaum and the letter from Franz Boas to Ruth Benedict.
Ruth Benedict was one of the most influential and famous anthropologists of her time and made significant contributions to her field. She also wanted to break down the stereotypes surrounding women in her time, and demonstrate that working women could be successful even though the world of work was dominated by men.
Benedict received the Achievement Award from the American Association of University Women.
