How can Ciro help you?

He is the director of Library and Learning Resources. During his daily work, he acts as a node between the UOC's guidelines and operations, transforming strategy into tactics, and tactics into benefits. He is involved in three main functions.

The first is to ensure quality and students' access to the learning resources, in accordance with a given schedule, budget, and legal and quality guidelines.

The second is to ensure that the university community has access to information collections and services that help it in its learning, academic or research work.

The third is to ensure that the UOC's researchers and journals have the greatest possible impact in their disciplines, while at the same time infusing the entire community with the spirit of open science.

Education and professional career

He has been linked with the university both as a student and as a teacher. He holds an official diplomatura degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Barcelona (UB), an official llicenciatura degree in Information Science from the UOC, a postgraduate course in Information Services in Organizations also from the UOC, and a master's degree in Digital Documentation from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF).

He has accumulated some 20 years of professional experience in both public and private centres, libraries, archives and cultural centres. He has worked with ELIS, the largest international open access repository about information science.

He has also worked concurrently as a teacher in several centres, in Catalonia and Latin America, and he is an adjunct professor at the UB; he combines this task with his role as director of the UOC Library.
