E-commerce, e-marketplaces and e-business, differences

Although they are terms that share common ideas, e-commerce, e-marketplaces and e-business are concepts that represent different realities. Each of these terms involves different tasks, with different purposes. Next we explain e-business and e-marketplaces, to distinguish them from e-commerce.


The term e-business, also known as electronic business, refers to the use of information and communication technologies to support business strategies. E-business is more than e-commerce, given that it encompasses aspects such as business processes, the production chain or business management and customer service, all managed with the influence of information technologies.
